Re: clarke welders???

Note that Clarke has gone belly up and is out of business. Don't expect parts to be available in the future if needed. When the supply out there is gone you're done most likely unless you are good at DIY. There are deals out there for a reason, there's no support behind the product any more. Waranty? Forget it! Shipping damage? If you are lucky the seller will take it back, but don't bet on it. There have been any number of posts on this in the past.

The machines were probably a better than average inexpensive import machine, but that's no good to you if you are unlucky enough to get the short straw on a bad machine.

Re: clarke welders???

I believe that is a decent price. See if you can talk them down even more. Parts availability is questionable in the future, but with many of them out there, as time goes on, parts may become available if there is demand. Also, there are still different companies which sell the same, but different branded welder. SummitRacing.com is trying to desperately clear out all of their Clarke inventory.

Re: clarke welders???

Just found this in my area. Not mine, but proof that what you've found is a good price. Grab it!

Exactly. Craigslist is area specific. It's great if you live in downtown Chicago or the middle of NYC. But if you live in a small town 30 miles from an average sized city it's not that great. So it depends on where you live.

duaneb55, don't forget that both Harbor Freight and Clarke welders are blue too......

Duane

The problem with that is, NO ONE wants to get rid of the little millers...And now being a miller owner I know why, They really do make a good machine.

I ose Searchtempest to look at Craigs list for a large area around me, say 100-150 miles. Type in what you are looking for, say "welder" and your zipcode.

http://www.searchtempest.com/

I've found some of my best deals in smaller rural areas where CL doesn't get as much trafic. Sometimes the items have been posted several times and the seller just wants to unload it since you are the only one who's shown an interest. It does mean I have to drive a bit usually to get there, but I travel enough with work that doesn't bother me much.
