What Welder For My Purpose
Hi all,
I'm a welding newbie... did a little gas welding when younger but that's about it. I'm looking for a stick or MIG welder, initially to weld chain onto 1/2" and 3/8" thick steel plates. Also need to weld some 1/2" steel rod onto steel fence posts. Will a welder like a Lincoln 225 be sufficient for this purpose? I'm confused about this because 220V welders don't usually seem to be rated for 1/2" thick materials? Any advice is much appreciated! Thanks, Jimmy |

Re: What Welder For My Purpose
If you are talking about the 225 amp buzz box for stick welding, do yourself a favor and get the AC/DC version instead of the AC-only. Stick runs much nicer on DC.
