welding pot metal or cast aluminum
i would like to know if it is possible to weld the side case on a briggs and stratton engine which was cracked due to over tightening the bolts i think its made of pot metal or cast or something of that nature i only have an ac lincoln welder but i was told there is a rod that you use for welding all metals anyone know if there is such a thing?

That case is aluminum.
A repair to the case requires TIG-not stick.
