Learning in Lexington

Hey, I'm an artist that wants to learn how to weld. I have experience working with heavy equipment and I'm a quick learner. If you are in the Lexington area and are willing to teach me, please let me know and what kind of price range you would ask for.

Re: Learning in Lexington

I'm in Lexington, KY. And I could travel to nearby cities in order to learn. Evenings would be better or weekends.

Zapster,
I've done a little stained glass, but I mostly do furnace work. It's very addicting. I also enjoy working with wood and clay.
Nice to meet you!

Re: Learning in Lexington

To everyone, what suggestions do you have about learning how to weld. Where should I look. Would you recommend taking a class, and if so where. Any information/feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Learning in Lexington

Hi Ya glassartist and Welcome to the Welding Web Family. I don't do stained glass but I certainly admire the work. As for welding many community colleges offer classes. You can also check around with any local welding shops to see if they might take you on as a helper with or without pay its a great way to get that hands on training as well as some shop experience.

If you want to post your location, show your personal avatar, or have a signature on each post telling fellow members where you are located; an avatar of you or your shop, and a signature telling fellow members what types of equipment you have, you can do it all by following these steps:

1. Locate and click on USER CP

2. Under YOUR CONTROL PANEL, YOUR PROFILE, click on EDIT YOUR DETAILS

3. In the EDIT YOUR DETAILS, you can enter Optional Information and Additional Information such as your Location (an other info)

4. While in USER CP you can explore some of the other functions

- Avatar: you can have picture of you, your shop, your wife, children, dog, etc (keep it clean- no nudes)

- Signature: you can list all your equipment, a link to your shop, or maybe some witty saying
