plasma cutters...
are the no name brand plasma cutters like riland, mitec, and dayton really a piece of crap. i'm in the market for one and want the most bang for the buck, but want to spend under a grand. i noticed that most of the no name brands are high freq, and ones by thermal dynamics, miller and other big guys are non hf. does this matter, and has anyone had any luck with the no name ones?

xdeadboox,
HF start is not an issue unless you are going to use the cutter with a computer on a CNC machine. The HF start will interfere with computers and controllers in that case. |

The thing that concerns me is SERVICE. I keep seeing these lo cost plasmas and welding machines for sale on eBay, but who is going to service them when there is a problem? Its one thing to say it comes with a wonderful warranty, but how much money does the warranty save me when I have to pay 50 or more bucks to ship the machine back for service, and who pays to ship the machine back to me?
