Marvel carb HELP
Hey guy can anyone give me some insite on whats wrong with my carb. It's the cast iron Marvel, I recently rebuilt it and made the engine run good. But now its back to its old ways, leaking gas back out of the air inlet opening. I tore it down soaked it for a few hours in chem dip and used a new rebuild kit. I'm thinking that the needle is staying open and overfilling the bowl. Any ideas before I go and buy a new carb. Thanks

Re: Marvel carb HELP
Don't replace it take it off pull the bowl remove the float submerge it if it doesn't float evenly you have a bad float I just replaced the float in my 80 because of one side of the float was bad. Also after you check it readjust it 1/4 inch from top of float to bottom of gasket this is crucial you bend it near the needle to set the proper height I am not pos about the quarter in I will double check for you when I get home. Finally while you have it apart make sure you don't have anything that was in the gas obstructing the needle, good luck the marvel is fickle
But simple

Re: Marvel carb HELP
I had to have the float balanced in one of my 200's. I just told them to rebuild the entire carb while it was there. $65 bucks was worth it, not to bad of price in my eyes. It has not leaked a drop of gas since. Mine is also used 4-6 days a week.
