Harbor freight 110A mig help

Hey guys last night i was welding and all the sudden it just quit. All it will do when the trigger is pulled is click the contactor. At first id did this on the min/max 1 setting and now it does it on all settings. No wire feed, stinger isn't "hot". I did a resitance check between the electrode and ground and i can confirm that the contactor is closing when the trigger is pulled. Oh and the fuse on the pc board is fine.

i'm kinda thinking that the 1/2 switch is bad, because at first it did it on min/max 1 setting and worked fine if the 1/2 switch was on 2....

Anyone else had this issue?

No replacement, i got it off ebay for like 60 bucks. It was a harbor frieght return. The PO apparently didn't know how to weld and blamed it on the welder...

Either switch failing "1-2 or min-max" will give the symptoms you describe.
Just get one or both from Harbor Freight, probably will cost almost nothing.

I wonder if you could clip a jumper across each switch to test if that restores it.

Or use a meter and verify that the switches are intact.

Ya maybe later today i can get out there an play with it. I have a pretty strong feeling that it's the 1/2 switch since thats were the problem started.

Were are you guys getting parts for these welders?

Re: Harbor freight 110A mig help

Just call Harbor Freight 1-800-444-3353, Monday thru Friday,
6:00 am to 4:30 pm PST time.
Give them the Item number.
Parts are cheap, but sometimes they are on back order.
The switch may have had a fault, or some near genius may have been switching it while welding.
It should be easy to check with an ohm meter , if you take it out.
Just write which wire goes where.

Re: Harbor freight 110A mig help

ok guys it definetly was the switch. Luckilly both the min/max switch and the 1/2 switch are double pole/double throw so you have a spare switch built in. All i had to do was to m ove the 3 wires to the other side of the switch. Works good as new.

Can we get liners for these cheap whips from harbor freight?
