brazing with tig

I once knew a guy that could braze with a tig welder, I watched him do it. I have tried and failed a few times now many years later. Anyone have any experience to share?

Re: brazing with tig

I have TIG brazed steel components using silicon bronze filler, trade name Everdur. Since this is brazing, not welding, you do not melt the base metal, only the filler metal. The application I had was joining a small cylinder onto a sheet metal door as part of a hinge. This was a fillet joint, and I simply held the filler laying in the joint, and ran the arc along the filler with enough current to melt it and allow it to wet to the base metals.
