The show room!

Well I'm a little embarrassed to show these pics because I'm sure there are those out there that will think I'm crazy to spend the time and money to restore this stuff but I've received so many private emails and messages I decided to post some pictures of the stuff I've restored. Some might say , what does this have to do with welding or fabricating?

Well If you removed my welding equipment from my main shop none of this would exist.

My wife and I run our little automotive repair business on a daily basis but I just really enjoy taking old junk that was heading for the bone yard and try and do something with it. Most of the stuff you see here is not restored to original and I never meant it to be. I put my own twist into each and every piece.
I do all my own welding, fabricating, machining, body and paint work. I do have a great friend who prints decals but that's as far as it goes. The Harley items I did this past year. I personally ride a Goldwing but love Harleys so that's why the Harley items. All the pinball machines I restored a few years ago and all work flawlessly.
With a bit of patience, and a little know how anyone can do it so get out there and look for those little treasures and start restoring. Hope you like this old junk. Paul

Amazing...I've seen some of your work in your other posts, and (as usual) I'm totally blown away. Thanks for posting these pics, and providing some serious inspiration to get more practice!

And I think you're being a tad modest saying that anybody could do what you do - I doubt whether many people have your range of skills and your obvious obsession with detail.

It's great that there are people like you keeping this stuff alive.

Re: The show room!

Wow thanks everyone for your comments on my stuff and no you won't see any Pepsi here Ha! Ha!. It's a great product but the colors wouldn't go with the rest of the stuff. Scott you mentioned the plane. Well this plane is from the 1940's and I attached a few more pics of it before and just after it was completed. Believe it or not but these pedal cars/boats/planes can be very rough when you get them. The metal is always cracked due to the weight of the kids that played with them so being able to have some basic welding skills is a definite asset.
I do appreciate the kind comments of this stuff. The plane it's self took over 15 hours to paint not including welding, looking for replacement parts and prep work and everything you see is painter base/clear.

Glad you enjoyed looking at this and after seeing the things you guys have done on this site I'm positive each and everyone of you can do it as good if not better than I have. Five years ago I didn't TIG weld. I didn't paint and I didn't do any body work. If your knowledge is lacking in any or all of these departments do what I do. ask allot of question and pick up some books on the subject matter and I know it can be done. It worked for me. Give it a try!! Paul

Re: The show room!

WoW!!!! Very Nice. Thanks for putting those up.

My uncle restores all sorts pedal cars too. He even has that plane you posted above. And he has the red tricycle that you can see in the corner of a pic above. He too is very much an "attention to detail" sort of guy. His house is full of those pedal cars.

Keep up the good work.

Paul,

I was so impressed with these photo's that I kept coming back for look-sees.
Finally, I took the first photo (wide view with Gasoline Alley sign overhead) and made it the background wallpaper on my computer... now I begin my day looking at your Show Room! Inspiration!
Thanks
Rick V

Haha! You won't see Pepsi around here either. No self-respecting southerner would drink Pepsi unless dying from dehydration. Even then we would cringe with every sip.

Re: The show room!

Aaaaaahhh BIG Deal !

Your right anybody could do it ...

If they knew where to find this kind of stuff
Spent their hardearned money on it
Knew how to restore things
Knew how to weld
Knew how to paint
Had your imagination
Had your talent
Shared your love for old memorabilia
Had a wife who shared your love for memorabilia

Did I miss anything? Oh yeah your right again! you are kind of nuts ...

But then who amoung us dosen't get carried away when the subject matter is something of interest to us.

Kinda like some people and Ford cars ..... Right Zap ?
