New Barstool racer

Ok. I finished my go kart and run it without brakes. Dad saw it and got glad. Then he told me he didn´t want it in the entrance of my house. He told me to take it outside. I won´t let it stay outside rusting away (I can´t take it into my room cause everytime I´ll need to take it out I would need 4 people helping me)

Since long time ago I´ve been wanting to do a barstool. Since it has such a smaller wheelbase I decided to use the parts and build one that can easily enter the doors of my house so I can keep it on my room.

I´m planning of making it having a maximum rear wheel to rear wheel distance at 75 cms.

Here´s the pics that show what I will be working tomorrow.

Any comments gladly accepted.

After all the work you did on the cart you cut it up? Did ya ever get to ride it? I thought the cart was dangerous enough, but your gonna break your neck on this thing. To each their own I guess. For God's sake wear a helmet! I don't think I would ride it. Just my .02

I thought my KT100 was insane!!! Make sure you drink a lot of beer on that barstool, so it won't hurt so bad when you crash!!!

Nice work!!!!

Hey fuzz.....I did finish it and I took some pics of it and rode it without brakes on the street. You can see the video on my go kart thread, even tought I wasn´t going at full throtle when mom took the video (I was driving it )

I didn´t cut it up. It is standing outside my house lol, all dismantled. I will some some of the parts of it. And had to make others.

Pics coming!

However I will be sitting higher than you over air, and with some wheelie action

Re: New Barstool racer

K, did a lot of working today but im dissapointed with my MIG cause fluxcore is over now :S I don´t have nothing to weld with and I don´t have money for buying a gas tank (up to now, I haven´t found anybody that leases them).

Welll now the fab....

I did almost all the frame today. Did the main chassis part but I regreted using 14 gauge steel and now did it with 1" square tube 1/8 wall (1.25 OD).

Did also the bearing hangers out of 6mm plate. Foot rests are also done with 3/4 square tube 14 ga. Also made the engine brakets out of 1/4" steel.

Had some trouble with the bearings which wouldn´t allow the 1" axle to pass through them but the dremel and some sanding paper solved them easily.

I´ll look if here in Mexico they sell flux-cored wire they better have it (even tough on Lincolns Mexico page they doesn´t seem to carry it).

The sprocket I decided to use is the 33 Teeth. With the 40 teeth I was able to go up to 50-60 kmph (my educated guess sitting at 1" over the ground with my go kart) A friend of mine is giving it to me but it has a 5/8 hole on it so I need to open it to 1" and make the 1/4 keyway. I´ll wait till monday for that. And so I can´t weld the engine mounts now cause I don´t know the distance I´ll be using for the chain. (lol, anyway I can´t weld till monday)

Seems I did everything I could. Tomorrow I´ll go looking for a barstool that fits my neccesities and if I can´t find one I´ll make it. PICS!

Noup...Mexico Sears won´t even carry MIG welders. I don´t think that I can find a NAPA store here, same to carquest.

There are some other brands like ESAB, INFRA, of welding equipment. I might go check them out.

They BETTER have it

..............

K just checked INFRA, they carry it =) yehaa, I´ll check prices tomorrow Thanks zap
