anouther railing.....even crazier

this one we did with a nouther Comp. that has sence gone out of business we mad all of the jigs and components alone with building all the turns and assembleing most of the angled sections it is unfinshed in these pix there is a brass cap rail that is going on top and the sections we built on site are unpainted. (the crazy curve around the "landing" and the transition at the top of the stairs) there is anouther matching set of railing on the property ...can't find the pix for that one though....

Wow...another great job, mp!

I wish I had the artistic talent it takes to design pieces like that...

I tend to make things too mechanical or technical looking rather than elegant like that railing.

I'm in the same boat as you ZT, no elegance, style, whatever it is, I don't have it.
Beautiful work, mpmetal. Perhaps some of the nicest handrail I have ever seen.

Re: anouther railing.....even crazier

I wish I could take credit for this design but it was the "designer/archatect" that came up with it..... my only isue with it is that it looks better on the flat than on an angle, as it is impossable to get all the elements to line up with each other on the angle and I feel it looks better all lined up.... not by much though it is still one heck of a nice design!!

Re: anouther railing.....even crazier

we don't have any big or interasting railing jobs right now. we are getting ready for a renn faire right now so most of the stuff comeing out of the shop is blades or armor. we are trying to bid on a cool one, but I have no idea if we will get it. if we do I will try to get some in progress pix, making the components, layout and assembly/ install.

Re: anouther railing.....even crazier

renn faire is short for Renaissance faire..... it.s kind of hard to discribe one if you have never been to one, it is sort of like a civil war renactor thing but less real and more about what every one wishs the renaissance was like, we are going to be selling blades armor and some ironwork, along with doing blacksmithing and cutting demos, (with knives and swords) they can be a lot of fun and can make OK money... but they are the only place to find folk that like to own sword's as much as we like to make them....
http://ctfaire.com/ this is the show we are doing, and some of the thing we are going to be selling.

Re: anouther railing.....even crazier

Question in regards to the circles in the railing with the flowerish type shape to them did you jig these up yourself or buy them?
Really nice work!
