bluestar 2e project

i was given a miller bluestar 200 amp ac/dc thats been sitting about 15 yrs. some parts missing but i put a little gas directly in the carb to check out the motor and it fired right up. question is does anybody know where i can get the throttle linkage, its all gone. and also what goes on the opposite side of the carb where the three wire connector is?? there is also 2 wires coming from the welder with no connector bottom pic. thanks for any info, gonna be a long winter so now i have something to do. serial number is je817395

Based on what I can see is missing on that Tecumseh, my suggestion would be to find a small engine shop that might have a blown motor you could buy for the necessary parts.

As for the wiring, I'd download the unit manual here http://www.millerwelds.com/om/o424a_mil.pdf and start sorting thru it by comparing what is physically there and that in the wiring schematic. Once you identify a particular wire number it's easy to figure out what is what and go from there.

Looks like KellyV's post got you to thinking about this old machine again. Sounds good that it fired right up after all these years, must have been store with a dry carb. I can't help much in the technical part of getting it going again, but I wish you and KellyV good luck on getting your old welders back up and running like they should be. I hope you both end up gettin'em running like new again

thanks bistineau, a local shop has the gas tank and governer linkage for 25 bucks. i hate seeing old cars and welders go to a scrap pile. i saved a old montgomery wards ac/dc buzzbox from the scrap pile. its butt ugly but works just fine. this bluestar will live again.

Low pressure pressure wash is what I do. Blow dry with compressed air and let sit in the sun for a few hours. If it's not sunny or too cold, set up a heater to blow warm air on it for an hour or so.

Hope this little feller ends up with some new paint when it's all said and done so it don't end up Butt Ugly like the Monkey Wards machine. Maybe there won't be any big issues with the internal guts to fix maybe just put the wiring back the way it's supposed to be and some clean up. Make your Dad proud that he gave it to you and let him see it welding again. If he's still able let him run a few beads for old time sake.
