update on my 4g pics inside

So today I started a new plate and I did the following changes. first went from 125 to 115 on the root pass I focuses on one side of the plate and backing strip and did a foward back motion no circles like last times. So it went way better slag was easy to remove .

Now on the second pass i went the oppiset side and was doing.the same motion now as i was getting half way a started to notice the ark starting to act funny it felt I was burning tru. I stopped and inspected and this is what it looked like after cleaning.

I think you are referring to "arc blow". Sometimes if you turn the plate around it will solve the problem. or if you move the ground to the other side of the plate. If you do a lot of grinding on the plate it can magnetize the steel and cause arc blow.

I dont know if its a bad habbit to get into or not, but when I start seeing signs of arc blow I tend to tweak the travel angle down or up , whichever I think will solve it and then jamb it int here and knock that fingernail off the rod
