Old trailer

I just picked up an old trailer for free and I wanted make it a little longer and wider Here's a few photos. What do you think can it be done. Or should I leave it alone.

Re: Old trailer

I don't think I'd bother making it any bigger, not for that axle, especially since you didn't do the first modifications. Don't trust others' unknown work except for how it's been used/tested previously.

I might use it as-is for small stuff and build/buy a bigger trailer for other stuff.

Re: Old trailer

Sell it, take te money and buy some steel and build one to your own specs! You can probably break even and wind up with a trailer perfect for your needs!

Re: Old trailer

well you can see how the axel was widend befor so you could do that again if you wanted, it would depend on how much wait you want to put on it as to wether its a good idea or not to widen it again. i would add a solid pice of angle irn along the hole lingth if the axel to add some suport to it. or as said above clean it up put a nice coat of paint on it and sell it for the $$ needed to buy a new axel wheel setup and some steel to build another one.

Re: Old trailer

If it were my trailer I wouldn't bother with widening it but would lengthen it and move axle further back, But if you are set on widening it I would suggest starting from scratch.

Re: Old trailer

I was doing some searching on line and trailer axles are not that expensive from what I have found online. I may do what was suggested and clean it up a bit and when finances are a little better build one a little bigger. I have been looking this trailer over and they don't seem difficult to make.
