Any experience with WeldingSupply.com house brand filler?

New welder here, and I'm looking to order some more filler for my O/A setup. I figured I'd just buy online, and found that weldingsupply.com has a house brand of RG45 which is much cheaper than anywhere else I've found for RG45: http://weldingsupply.securesites.com...45332||1|767||

Does anybody have any experience with this, or should I just stick with name-branded filler that would cost at least twice as much? Even after shipping costs, 5lbs would cost less than $20 while the Harris branded stuff from cyberweld would be about $25 for just 3lbs.

Thanks,
- Ian

Try it and let us all know.

I use some filler from on line suppliers with no problem, but it depends on what I am doing.

I haven't used their RG45 myself, but they are a reputable co. with about the best prices out there. I get a lot of stuff from them, even filler metals, since my "local" welding supply is almost 50 mi. away.

RG45 ain't rocket science, I'd say go for it.

I've used a bit of their 5356 filler, as well as some 70S-6. I've noticed no issues with it, and their shipments usually arrive fairly quickly (unless they are drop shipped from 3M).

The last box of their house brand I got in was Weldcote brand. Not sure if they always have that as the house brand, as they don't use mfgr. packaging for orders smaller than box quantity.

Only used a dozen rods, exhaust and heat shield, but I've had no issues with it.

Alright, ordered a few pounds each of 1/16, 3/32, and 1/8 RG45, then a pound of the 3/32 RG60 to try (I've only used RG45).

I'll post up my experience when I get it and hopefully I won't give it a bad rep when I blame my crappy newbie welds on it!

Re: Any experience with WeldingSupply.com house brand filler?

So, I placed my order on the 19th and it arrived on the 25th (4 business days later). Last night I used some of the 3/32 RG45 and I couldn't tell a difference between it and the stuff I picked up at the LWS. Also, at some point during the checkout/order process I was pretty certain that I saw the Lincoln/Harris name in the item description. It arrived as loose rods, clearly labelled with a tag and wrapped together with elastic bands.

I certainly won't hesitate to order it again, even though I probably won't burn through these 8lbs very quickly. At a little over $1.50/lb it's WAY cheaper than I've seen anywhere else, even once you factor in the shipping. 10lbs of rod comes to $29.52 shipped, so less than $3/lb total.
