Question Wiring help

I have a 2050 plasma cutter with a hand torch. I recently picked up a Hypertherm machine torch. I see the pin outs are a little different. can the Hypertherm be used on the Miller, what would I change? Thanks.

If the amperage and number of poles (blades) are the same, then you might be able to use the same plug. For example, there are more than one style of 50A 4-wire plugs.

If these are different amperage (you should be able to tell by the wire gauge), or a different number of poles, then it gets more complicated.

Starting at p. 16 of this document is a diagram of the plug/receptacle types. Identify which has which and post back if you still have questions.

For example, my welder is 50A with 3 conductors, so I wired it with a 5-50.
