Short Circuit question

Here is a question to perhaps shed light or spark a discussion;

"In short circuit welding, the arc crackle produces a soft plopping sound and welding spatter is evident. Do you first?
[a] Increase wire feed rate
[b] Decrease wire feed rate
[c] increase voltage
[d] decrease voltage "

Question taken from one of the resources found here;Welding books

C'mon, I know alot of weldors here have reported the great value of Millers 'training' package- surely there is something in it that can anwser the question

This is just for fun, not prove or disprove how smart one is- I did not not invent this stuff, just copied some text

A "soft plopping" sound? Perhaps with a better definition I can help...

I'm more used to "sizzle" or "hiss" sounds than "plopping".

If I had to guess (and I am) I'd say turn the voltage down or the wirespeed up, but I'm really not familiar with the phenomenon your refer to. I'm guessing you mean when the arc is sputtering due to too long of an arc length.

I don't think it's possible to have the conditions you're describing.
That's the telltale sign of having transitioned into globular transfer which is technically not "short-circuit".

Reducing voltage should get back into short-circuit.

Increase wire speed would my guess.
