I have had a Powermax 900 for... a long time. Great piece of equipment to have on hand. Problem is my torch cable has trained itself (I think the owner wrapped it to tight for ...a long time). Its become a pain to hold to... I constantly have to force it into a comfortable cutting position.. I really cant see spending almost $400.00 for a new one.. Is there any secrets to a resolution??

Thanks, Ed

Mine's the same way. Pretty inflexible. Not gonna bitch, too nice having it sitting in the shop.

Within a month there will be a new torch upgrade available for the 900 (and the 800 and the 600)....the Duramax torch.....same one used on the Powermax65 and 85. It will wake up your 900 and improve cut quality, cut speed, and consumable life. It's not any cheaper than replacing yours....but it sure will breathe some new life into that plasma.

Thanks jimcolt. I'll be patient for a bit then.

Try using the plasma in -20 degree weather....the torch lead is almost solid then, doesn't want to bend!

I can only imagine. Jim, is there any changes that may eliminate this "inflexibility" with the new lead?

The Max42 was one of the first plasma's that we used the cable-hose design for torch leads. The leads on the newer systems and torches have been improved, and flexibility is one of the areas we improved. The new Duramax torch leads are far more flexible than yours.

Perfect. I'm going to contact my local supplier regarding this.
Thanks again!!
