I'm thinking about buying a Hobart 250-HF. It's about 8 yrs old and has been used only a couple of times in the last few years. Can anyone give me some information about these older units. Are they good welders? Anything I should know before buying this unit? Thanks

If you are not going to use it all day every day then yes I would recommend it..
I had one and killed it in 3 years..

But it was heavily used and it was not really made for a heavy use enviorment..

I still have a few parts for the machine if you need spare anythings..

Thanks for replying. I'm not sure how much I'll use this welder. Right now there's just some projects around the shop that I need it for but, who knows what the future will bring. If I buy it I might be interested in what parts you have. Did you try to fix yours when it quit? Did you find out what failed on it? Are parts and support available from Hobart or anyone else? What parts do you have? Thanks

Check it out..

It ate polarity contacts on a regular basis..
The Hi Freq. crapped out completly and after that happened we got a Miller 330A/BP..
I still have the machine..
It is missing the contact switch from where the wires come into it..
I still have contacts for the polarity switch..

Anything you need I probably still have..

any new parts would come from thermal arc. But you have to have the part numbers first. They may not help you find them.
