This winter I am trying to better my stick welding skills. I picked up some 3/32 7014 to get started with. When is DCEN or DCEP used? Does it depend on the rod or the job at hand?

DCEP is most commonly used for stick. DCEN is used primarily when you are trying to limit penetration.

According to Lincoln, AC is the preferred polarity for 7014. Either DCEN or DCEP are also acceptable.
