I'll give 'em credit... theyre posting in 'off topic'.

while I feel it's wrong to pay for porn,... and i DEFINETELY trust someone selling *prescription* drugs on the internet; they're not plugging up the legit topic areas.

Maybe if the # of replies box stayed at "0",they'd eventually go away.

What are you talking about?

after the "off topic" forum there are links to "mark forums read" and "view forum leaders" at the bottom of the page...

we have "moderators"
then "administrators"
then "committee members" and last but not least
"miserable users"

spammers?

all the spammers have their own "miserable users" forum...?

with e-m contact info mind you...they sholud be blown off the face of the welding web..

what gives?

Zap,
OK, the truth is out. This is actually a training ground for spammers. They have their own forum, and we treat them to latte and scones every morning.

Seriously, we don't just blast the spammers, because that makes 'em mad. And then they work to make life miserable in any way that they can.

Instead, we have a special place where they go to talk amongst themselves -- unaware that the rest of us don't see them anymore. They don't find out because most of their work is automated -- so as long as our software doesn't send them any messages, they have no reason to think they aren't polluting our community.

We've since removed that area from your view, because -- like the war on terror -- the less you know the better you'll feel. :)

Any way you could get any spam posted on the site auto sent to all the spammers who have posted before??? They would all be so happy hearing from their own kind, 254,616 times a day. Whatever it takes to defeat them, they suck worse than terrorists.

Has anybody seen the stats on the success rate of e-mail spammers? It's pretty high and their costs are minimal.
I know the guys who send out the stock tips do really well. I get about 10 of those ones every day. Plenty of people fall for them.
Paid porn will always do well. I imagine the drug guys do OK.

Hey Bob, nice trick, is it used in the website-admin circles often, or did you come up with this? And how come we don't get ice cream or something? I'm sue a few of us would appreciate a latte...

I won't take any credit for anything that might be construed as clever or ingenious. There are a thousand tricks for dealing with Spammers, and none is anything better than temporary. We get these ideas from a whole variety of sources.

As for the ice cream, I think we sent you some in the mail. If you got a wet, sticky envelope, that was probably it. :p
