Call Guinness! Well maybe not. But it might be the most quiet (and smallest) 2000w generator ever (but not buy much).
And after installed in the compartment should be about as good as it gets.
I own a Toyota sunrader (rare small fiberglass motorhome) and it had a strange (obsolete) vertical generator made by Kohler ( 2.5CMZ-RV ). And being 2016 and all I decided the nightmarishly loud lawnmower engine/generator had to go in favor of a modern inverter generator.
Because of the small vertical orientation the generator compartment, no off the shelf rv generator (onan etc.) or portable 2000w+ generator would come even close fitting.
Here is the old and new generator I made based off of a Yamaha ef2000isv2. It is quite a bit smaller by volume because I removed the gas tank and re nested everything efficiently.

Please excuse the welding. I let an employee use this as practice. The enclosure is made of aluminum lined with Dynamat Extreme sound deadening material and sound absorbing foam. I added a Mikuni pulse fuel pump and pet**** to draw from the vehicle fuel supply.
The Dynamat made a huge difference! If you tap on the enclosure it sounds deep like you were tapping on thick wood. I made sure to measure the openings to maintain the same area of air intake and exhaust for cooling. Here are some shots of the inside.

Nice build, but how does it exhaust cooling air heat?

not to rain on a parade but ^ what they said. these modern quiet gensets are brilliantly engineered to be so quiet, a big part of that design is air flow. change the flow direction, efficiancy, volume, etc... your likely goin gto have hot spots and the problems that come with it.

air cooled motors dont have over temp shutdowns, they just start to bake themselves.

Have you ever been on a movie set? MQ Power makes a product specifically for that application. They are so quiet that you can't tell that it's running even if you're standing next to one.

Nice job on the enclosure!

Nice job on a modern replacement for an obsolete component!

Whatcha want for the old junker? I've got a vertical shaft 15HP Briggs with nothing to do right now....

MQ power is expensive.
But you get what you pay for.
My only experience with MQ is air craft ground support generators.

They make a lot of equipment specifically for the rental market (so it has to be tough). I toured their plant about 12 years ago and came away very impressed with their quality and operation.

I have ran it already for close to 100 hours in 100+ degree temps (hotter in the sun). I really didn't change airflow to the engine at all. The centrifugal blower fan on this engine pumps air through shrouds around the cylinder and head (like an old vw) then around the exhaust/muffler then out of the box. (Look at the Honda eu2000i the entire engine is encapsulated/shrouded).

Those MQ generators are awesome but on a whole different level this is 2000w in a box that's 15" x 15" x 12"

I have worked on air cooled engines that were built inside small enclosures to reduce noise.
They used ducting and fans with temperature switches to control air flow and temperature.
