POWERTIG 255EXT STICK WELDING 120V OUTLET. breaker goes off.

I just started doing stick welding with this unit and seem to find that at 80 or more amps with a 1/8th 7018 electrode my breaker keeps tripping?
is this normal for stick welding with this machine?
i have it in normal setting, standard electrode feature,no other options selected. Just 80 amps.

Yes, it is normal if you exceed the breaker capacity. The unit draws over 30 amps IIRC on 120V to achieve maximum output.
Sounds like you are welding on a 15 amp breaker. Try it on at least a 20 amp breaker with a slow trip design.
