    Everlast Repairs/Customer Service

    Hello all,

I am looking at buying a Plasma Cutter, been really considering the Powermax 30XP, but also i have been looking at the Everlast Power Plasma 80S, the 80S, is actually cheaper, and has a better warranty.

I know the customer service with Hypertherm is outstanding, but i have heard, some negative reviews on Everlast customer service, when it comes to warranty and service.

I have heard, that the issues with Everlast were awhile ago, but now its better..

Any input would be greatly appreciated. .

    Thanks Eric

From my research Everlast has improved a lot of their machines up to date. I just purchased the power pro 164 combo unit.

Haven't worked it a lot besides trying the stick. I'm gonna post a good review once I begin working it. Gonna use it daily during the 30day period.

I was gonna buy the 80S from Home Depot, they want a little over 1100.00, plus they offer a 90 day return policy, i figure any issues should show up by then..

Last year, I was in a similar dilemma. I've always had excellent customer service with Everlast. It's very close to my home (Northern California), good warranties, excellent products, good savings. I now have a second Everlast unit (I-MIG 200). And I'm going to be buying the optional spool gun for my I-MIG 200 in a couple of months. But for plasma cutters, I went with the PowerMax30 XP --- but that's just me. I'm obviously a big Everlast fan! BTW, I'd be interested in reading your write up / first impressions / un-boxing / first-use photos post of your 80S.

Still am! But as a DIY weldor, once I got the Everlast I-MIG 200 I realized I did not need three mig welders. So I sold the Longevity (a terrific DIY machine!) on a local craigslist---some guy snatched it up right away. I had to consider the room my welders take up. For example, right now, all of them are in storage until end of April. Soon I'll be selling my battery powered Hobart Trek 180, simply because of space and lack of use. I already know my go-to mig is now the I-MIG 200.

The I-Mig 200 is a more versatile machine, you made a good decision.

    Re: Everlast Repairs/Customer Service

Well, i tried contacting CS today, i spoke to Ray, who was helpful, and told me to call back and select extension 202, so i called back, inputed 202, and was connected to 201.....5 times...

Called a 6th time, inputed 202, and got 202, spoke to Tatiana, who i advised of the 50S torch problem, she asked my email address, to send a return label, she explained that once they see, that i have dropped off the torch at the UPS, that they would cross ship me a replacement, that was great, so i spoke to her at 4pm est. , after not receiving the email, i figured i would call her back, to see , when i could expect the email..

Guess what, extension 202, goes to 201...gave up after 3rd try, i ended up leaving a message on extension 201...

Not very happy, so far, with CS..

Sorry to hear this. Hopefully they pick up the ball and update their phone directory. I too had trouble... I had more trouble understanding the lady, you can certainly tell, like most phone consultants now days, English is a second language. And not a very good one..

No, actually it is the way the phone system is setup. It's a new one, and transfers by default to 201 if the 202 ext. is busy. And if 201 is busy, it goes to vm.

Don't worry, I have sent a email over to them. I expect them to contact you soon. If not, pm me and your phone # and I'll get things rolling.

    Hey Lugweld,

It was fustrating, dialing one number, and getting switched to another..

When i did get through, i spoke again to Tatiana, btw, i hope i have her right name, thats what i believed she said, but when i told her if the switching of extensions, she thanked me, and said she would pass it on, its proba6so new, that she didn't know about it..lol

But did tell me, that UPS, will be sending me the return label, but haven't received it as of yet..

Her accent is fairly light if you ask me, in fact nothing more than a Californian accent.

    Re: Everlast Repairs/Customer Service

The backlog on repairs stands at 1 month! Do you have any idea how pissed I get thinking about how I just spent $140 to ship back a virtually new (less than 12 hours of use) 2015 PowerMTS251si in the middle of a time sensitive job?! I was forced to buy another welder, spending another $700, just to deliver on time a job I promised for a measly $200. This "super-welder" has now cost over $2500. From this side of the fence, I am struggling with the "Value" considering this situation.

Everlast needs to reduce repair times into the reasonable realm of less than 2 weeks or figure out a way to make a $1500 piece of machinery last more than 12 hours of use. I would understand if this was NASA, but come on

    Re: Everlast Repairs/Customer Service

1 month is not unusual for many brands. I know I hear all the time the same story from customers about other equipment that they have had, 4, 5, 6 or even 8 weeks or more. Yes things happen, while we don't want it to, anything human made will have issues. You haven't checked out the backlog of repairs and problems for the Lincoln PowerMIG 210MP, they have their share of problems, if not more. I am not saying it is an excuse, but really you have to consider what is the norm or at least see compare to other brands. No one wants this to happen but when it does no one wins here.

I would question the 140 dollars shipping as there are cheaper ways to ship. I hope you didn't over pay.

We have all Miller Pipeworx at my job. Mine was brand new... 11,000$.

Month into it the computer board fries.
Sent in off, took 30 days to get it back, and THEY MISDIAGNOSED IT!

another 30 days..... Then finally had it right.

My miller dynasty (before the pipeworx)
Got sent in 3 different times..

Even the big brands have issues too. I have to agree with lugweld. People will swear blue and red but they break Down too.
