    Eastwood Digital Tig 200?

    http://www.eastwood.com/tig-200-digital.html

This new machine looks promising. But I haven't seen much written about it.

Does anyone have any hands on experience with it?

BTW: This is not the one they've had out for a couple of years. This one is new in the past few months and is all digital.

Why in the world would they recommend a 50amp circuit for a 200amp inverter?

All of the features of this machine, and your only comment is the input current requirement?

I doubt it needs a 50 amp breaker. It's more likely that Eastwood either made a mistake publishing that number, or they are covering their *** to reduce support calls.

It's an IGBT inverter. I'd think it would draw about the same current as any other similar inverter.

I think its Eastwood covering their a$$. Like most 220V welders, it probably comes with a 50 amp plug, so the assumption is that you are going to use a 50 amp circuit to plug it into.

I've already said my thoughts on this in the last thread. They didn't make a mistake, they posted it twice in the QA section.

Having too large of a breaker is almost as bad as not having a breaker.

I looked for another thread, and couldn't find it. Can you post a link?

Interesting comment straight from S Church at eastwood on their Q&A section. seems to be in conflict with the 50A breaker statement. Is the 50a breaker thing a CYA statement ? Maybe.

When welding at full duty cycle what is the draw? I know the miller syncrowave210 advertises full duty at 240V while drawing less than 30 amps.

This unit when in TIG mode will draw 30 amp and while in Stick mode will draw 34 amps.

Likely because, as all nearly all welders come in single phase configuration, it is equipped with a 50 amp plug. NEC allows a 200% oversize on breakers for welders iirc.
