Everlast 255ext water and argon hoses coming apart

    Hi all,

has anyone experienced their Everlast water and argon hoses coming apart or is it only me? I bought an Everlast 255 ext about a year ago and after a few months found my water cooled tig torch's water line leaking. I reported it and sent some pictures. They sent me a replacement torch. However recently I noticed my air cooled torch hose started leaking too. I was able to replace the short hose that goes from the gas solenoid to the dinse connector to get around that problem. However I noticed that the hose itself looks dry rotted. Its cracking.

I couldn't figure out where I was leaking argon from as my weld puddle looked like crap when it has not shielding (on aluminum). I started spraying the hose with soapy water and all kinds of bubbles were coming out here and there. I was able to patch them up temporarily using the new generation fusing tape designed for sealing things like this. But the future is ominous to say the least.

It seems they either use a cheap rubber to make their hoses out of or the material cannot take being exposed to Arizona heat. My water hoses, the same thing.

    Am I the only one?

Had the same thing happen recently on one of my cooler lines. It was weeping through the rubber near the quick connect.

It sure seems chinese rubber products don't hold up very long at all. Couple people I know have hoses from Harbor Freight and it's done what you show in about a year I'm told.

One guy I know from this site purchased a new mig from Harbor Freight and the hose depleted a near full argon tank overnight when he didn't close the tank valve and the gas hose split.

Just call tech support and see what they will do. What kind of anti-freeze were you using? Was it run dry ever?

Cheap tools sold by hustlers who couldn't make it in the insurance sales world.

At least ITW still assembles a portion of their machines with cheap labor using some quality components.

Silicone hoses tend to outlast conventional hoses by years. Wonder if this is a later upgrade? Therra's hoses he states are about a year old and failing?

That's a good question. I know we made a changeover a year or so ago to a different type. Could be old stock.

Regardless of brand, quality and longer service life come with a cost. The higher the quality and longer the service life the higher the costs are. If I paid a lot of money (relative to the average product costs) and the hoses only lasted a year I'd be pizzed, yes, but if I bought a low budget item and the hoses only lasted a year that's about what I would expect.

Year old looks like you might have got some bad hose hopefully they take care of you, but I don't know the exact situation, just call the manufacturer see what they say, I wouldn't think it froze in Phoenix hahaha

Maybe it's caused by some component of the liquid in the spray bottle sitting on the bench.

Looks like it might be some form of environmentally friendly bug chaser offer juice that doesn't contain CFC or Hydrocarbons.

I don't know if that was sarcastic but htp sells the same cooler different color don't know the price difference, I do know they have good service and won't be little you for asking if it's warranted, the other ones have people pimping that will write 10 posts 12 paragraphs long about how great their warranty is yet give YOU a answer to call tech and ask what kind of antifreeze your using, those lines are going bad from the outside, the green machines look nice but there rep on here is a little too combative and likes to spend more time arguing with doubters than helping owners of the product their selling,mmrock4 give htp a call it's just a typical cooler in a different color I had one on a dynasty 200 and worked great

Better get a stool sample C livingston, they need to know what kind of contagion they're dealing with.

I don't have a water cooled unit but i've 0 issues with the hoses.
