    New Member From WI

    Hi All,

I’m a relatively new welder. I took a class on welding and also bought a Miller 211. I’m currently building a hot rod and therefore welding is a must. I joined the forum for the various questions I’ll most likely have throughout the build.

Right now I am to the point where I have to weld up some horizontal cuts I put in my c-channel frame that allowed me to contour the rails. I’m looking for some tips or suggestions on the best way to do this to minimize distortion.

    Thanks,

    Mike

Welcome and you have a decent kit and a good attitude towards learning.Clean well.
Use gussets. Fish plate when doing frame joints. ( that fancy talk for an overlapping joint you already welded and ground down.
Just little goodies like this. Insurance and good experience for a guy getting going

Thank you all for the replies. It really seems like a great group of people here. I am from southeast WI, West Allis to be exact.

I've attached a few pictures of what I need to weld up (top and bottom since it will be visible). Of course once it is welded I will then grind it smooth. Any suggestions and tips are appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Mike
