    68 Sa200 Need major help Gen Sparking

    68 Sa200 Need major help

    Hi, i have a old 1968 sa200

    the welder does run and strike a arc but i noticed that here is some major arcing going on in the main gen area
    i took the shield off and its looks like its coming from the brushes.. i checked all the brushes and they seem to be in good
    shape and they're all free not hanging up.

    the welder does Idle up when i strike a arc but the gen arcs really bad. not sure what to do at this point

    Hi guys i am new to the site. sorry if i posted the help question in the wrong section.
    i am auto mechanic by trade so i do have some Knowledge of welders and how they work but his one has me stumped.

    From the photo you sent me the armature has a short causing that damage to the commutator bars. Gonna need a replacement or rewind.

    Hi i am up near edmonton alberta canada where would i take the armature to get fix i can remove it ? or can i get a replacement ?

    Rewinds are expensive. Here's one example from the rewinder I use:

    Located in CA shipping adds to the figure.

    You may be fortunate to find a parts unit in or close to your area with a good replacement.

    hey guys i need some help has anyone see a armature that is like this that hooks up to the fly wheel on sa200 ?
    i am trying to figure out how old this unit is or if the units Gen has been swap out at some point. its out of a 1968 sa200

    Yep. Canadian machine.

    As stated in my PM, you will likely need to contact Lincoln Canada for their input to get to the bottom of the matter with regard to the coupling style.

    Either that or look into changing over to the flex plate design that would require a flywheel change. Only you could decide if it was worth the effort and cost to do so. Might be better off with a rewind.
