    Circular vise? What is it?

Seller called it a “circular vise”says it
may have been used for rebuilding
air brakes. Looks like it may be useful
as some sort of welding fixture.

Looks like the top of a turntable. Worth looking into.

it appears to be a six station production jig mounted on a face plate of a lathe. also looks like it's standing on legs rather than being a lazy susan type.

So, would a circular vice be another name for a circle Jerk?

OK, it’s a total wild at guess, but that looks like some sort of fixture for working on clutch pressure plates. Might be of some use to somebody wanting to build a rotary positioned. DUNNO but puzzles like this beat the hell out of the Sunday crossword.

If the clamps aren't welded in place, it's be worth the investment. For $50, that'd make a dandy little fixturing table, or just a nice place to each lunch when you're in the shop!

Reminds me of the little rotary table Abom79 made a few years ago. Really handy in a lot of ways, even if it doesn't rotate.

Looks kind of like one of the circular (dry) drill press decks, highly modified for some special purpose.

I'd snap it up! Would be a great welding turntable.

To me, first thing I thought, was old lathe faceplate bastardized to a clamping table for some other work.
    12v battery, jumper cables, and a 6013.

I'm in the same boat. He had it listed on CL for a lot more $$ than the one the OP posted. With scrap price being low, the selection of stuff should be better.

For 50 bucks, IF I was close , I’d grab it, clean it up and figure out use(s) for it later.

IMO the question is not: what it is, but what it can be used for.

That's what I was gonna say. Looks like the table from my drill press, with a bunch of clamps dogged onto it...
