    OTC Daihen DTX-2200 AC/DC TIG

Does anyone have experience using or info on the OTC DTX-2200 AC/DC TIG machine?

    https://www.daihen-usa.com/product/dtx-2200-ac-dc-tig/

There is limited information available from the OTC website. I can’t find this machine for sale on the web. There is a video from OTC on youtube on how to assemble the unit but not much else.

This is a web page link from the 2019 SEMA show that indicates the machine with a cooler, torch, and cart will sell for less than $5000.

    https://www.semashow.com/press/2018/...tc-daihen-brea

The machine and cooler combo has a similar look to the Fronius machines.

I am looking to purchase a TIG machine with a cooler. Have been comparing the Fronius 230i/HTP Invertig/Miller Dynasty machines and this came up on an internet search. A price of less than $5000 would make it very competitive (a little more than the Invertig, significantly less than the Fronius 230i and the Dynasty 210DX and 280DX).

    Hi,
I don´t have experience with exactely that machine, but with the older and bigger OTC DA300P (and other japanese made welders like Hitachi AD GP2 300 and Thermal ARC/Sanrex).
These are top quality units, often used as powersource in industrial application together with welding robots.
They are not very common in germany, so i got my one really cheap second hand.
It´s a great unit but with a noisy fan and a interface which is sometimes not so easy to work with.
But there are many many options and settings, you could play different firmware options to that machine (and thes send a datastick for free in germany, you just have to send ist back).
The ac/dc mix option is fine for bigger ally. You get more penetration compared to an ac arc.

I also know the HTP 221 / Stel TIG dp 221, which is also a totally great welder.
Fronius is nice to, but very pricey and you have to pay for useful firmwareupgrades. I also don´t like the design of the pedal and it´s can bus, so not easy to change to another design.

If I would be you, I would try as many machines as possible and find out what kind of interface layout I prefer.
Service and dealers around not to forget.
    Kai

$5000 is a LOT more than what you would pay for an 220V HTP Invertig 221 with water cooler and cart (~$3320 from the website as of right now). A Miller 210DX with Coolmate 1.3 is ~$4,800 on the IOC. Yes I am biased (on my own accord, because I run all HTP machines), but the 221 is still a pretty good value. If you must have a Miller 210dx or 280dx, then you must have one and none of us are gonna stop you.
1st on WeldingWeb to have a scrolling signature!

I think you are right on Oscar. Also looks like OTC has no dealer support. Shipping and repair could be "Mail-Order-Mayhem". My LWS would match IOC online pricing to get my gas orders so I would be that must have Miller guy. Having dual voltage thrown in is mandatory for me as well. My defense lab customers would not recognize either HTP or OTC as valid security risks to bring in their plants unlike Miller and Lincoln.

really? surely if your machine has a valid inspection date and calibration, it's good to produce the amps that it says it is, no matter what colour or brand?

Is this a 'murica thing? lol

OTC do a lot of top end stuff for robot cells.

Yes, maybe it is a "Murica" thing. I have to check-in with paperwork, surrender my cell phone and get wanded and badged, have my equipment inspected as security takes make, model, and serial # of machine. They look for surveillance equipment or recording devices as well. If my machine and tools are on an approved list I am escorted to the work area by security and assigned a minder the whole time.

OTC machines are high quality units. They aren't real common on this side of the pond. They are more common on the other side of the pond.
