    Some pictures posting sideway?

    Hello All

In post #795 of this thread my first picture posted sideways. What caused it and how can I edit it?

    https://weldingweb.com/showthread.ph...27#post8674627

    Thanks

you have to edit it on your computer.. rotate it and save, then use the saved picture to post..if from a mobile device I have no idea...

There's a specific amount of time most forums allow to edit a post. If you've passed that, you are done.

Anytime I've had posting of photos become an issue, it's because the photo I've submitted were oblong in shape. A rectangle vs a square.

If you resize your photos, it's best to make them square, or close to, before uploading.

    Thanks for the replies.

This is the only forum I've ever been on that time limits edits. At any rate the picture is correctly oriented on my computer so any issue is site based. All the other pictures are in the same orientation and didn't get rotated. And as there is no picture in the draft mode (just a line of text) there is no way to change picture orientation in draft mode....or in an edit.

I could try to resize it cropping it to a square format but cuts away much of the intended content. I'd much rather find a way to fix this on the site as it is very clear that the issue is on WW.

it appears the issue is with how you held your phone to take those images. It's not the software here.

    Hi Robb

Thanks for the answer but I'm having trouble buying that. Here's the same pictures, in post #65, uploaded from the same computer and they don't have the issue of being rotated.

    https://www.smokingmeatforums.com/th...4#post-1916645

If the issue were here on my end wouldn't they have had the same issue?

And as a correction to my first post in this thread, all four pictures in post #795 were rotated 90* counterclockwise, not just the first picture.

It is true. When taking pics with a cell phone you have to orient the phone correctly so the images will be displayed correctly. Most phones have auto rotate so the phone rotates the pictures to display the images according to how you hold the phone. On line forums do not do this to your pictures.

Try this, hold the phone horizontally with the cammera lense on the left side of the ph and take your pictures like that. This orientation should display the pictures correctly on any forum. Good luck.

On my ipad i have to hold the tablet with the camera in the upper left hand corner the picture will always be oreinted properly on this web site then. The Iphone i havent taken enough photos to remember what way it has to be held. Thats why my latest picts are sidways. If its the site or the unit taking the picture i dont know.
