Yeah, I think you're absolutely right. Your advice isn't falling on deaf ears. I don't know, but I think I mentioned the pitfalls I've heard about on these gaps somewhere on this thread, or in another one.

Did a quick runover with a test indicator today, and it's not bad at all, almost negligible after you pass the joint (the joint just bumps the indicator). Lightly stoned the joint to remove the edge, and called it good. I don't want the saddle ways to constantly pass over even the slightest sharp edge.
