Greetings from the Southern California desert.

I am retired white collar guy who is fascinated by metalworking and welding. I used to be a volunteer tutor in machine shop technique and theory at a local city college. I took a years worth of SMAW, TIG and a semester of OA back in the early '90s and then work got in the way. A good friend is a professional welder and I know 1) what excellent welding/technique looks like and 2) I'm not there yet!
    I am here to learn.
Interests: metalshaping, light fab work, mill, lathe (have both commercial manual and CNC) and small foundry.
    Best,
    Jim
