I have an old DC stick welder whose leads are hard wired. So for the Tig conversion to weld DCEN ideally I would switch the leads and put the stinger on the lug (now negative charge) and the now reversed ground clamp (now positive charge) to my welding material source. Since I can't switch my hardwired leads, I heard it is ok to go ahead and clamp the still negative ground clamp to the lug and the still positive stinger to the welding material source to weld DCEN. If that is ok:

1. Is there anything precautionary I should do such as wrapping or sleeving the negative or positive connector?
2. If there is no difference, why is it typically demonstrated that people switch the leads from positive to negative with their Dense connectors to hook it up the first way I mentioned?

Thanks for the input,
Wayne
