Arbor Press is a Must Have

So...……...I made lunch the other day.

Forgot about the pot being on the stove Boiled it dry

K'kins got home, and took one look, and it was out to the shop. The pot no longer was able to sit flat on the burner grate because the heat had warped the bottom, and bowed it. She decided this was unacceptable, this bein' a nice Revere Ware pot.

Gently "bumped" it back to shape, and all's good again. I got to sleep in the house

That is one of my mom's favorite pots...if I had damaged it as a child, at age 49 I still wouldn't be allowed in the house.

My mom & mother-in law both had a set of those copper bottom pots & pans, the big saucepan got a hole in it several years ago, I think it was the last surviving piece.

Time to switch to cast iron. ha ha

I can't imagine not having an arbor press. I used mine the other day to break the bead on a lawn mower tire.

Yep nice to have tools.... The neighbors like me too...

    .

used my hyd press to remove the "lifetime" spicer U joints in my 280k mile jeep yesterday....
fronts went OK but the rear shaft gave me big balls.... finally convinced it with the angle grinder/thin wheel...

I wound up, one time, having to melt/cut the stupid u-joints out. Cut the cross, then burned a hole through the caps. The heat made them literally fall out when tapped. Scary stuff though...………..dam oxygen stream can sometimes stray, and cut good stuff.

I hope your neighbors reciprocate...…..around here, they generally don't, so I don't do the work.

My lil woman came home one time and caught me boiling one of those softball sized snails (puget sound) out of the shell in her copper bottom pan . Me and my brother were out at the picnic table suckin down suds waiting for the ugly thing to get done. She missed my head by an easy foot.

Had to do the same with a Farberware pan (30 + year wedding gift) and my hydraulic press. Bead blasted the inside of another after boiling it dry. Fine material followed with 1500 wet sanding and it was good as new.
