    Brazing with a MIG welder?

Just wondered if anyone here has any experience using this material in a mig welder?

In the 1970s I worked in a sheet metal shop. We used Silicon Bronze to weld the galvanized sheet metal all the time.
Seems as we used 98% argon, and 2% oxygen for gas.

It has its purpose. I've also used 1/16" alumabronze cladding a madrel for the rail industry.

It is great for tacking jigs to my table since it grinds off easy. I use 100% argon with it in my little mig

I have a small roll of silBr, but I haven't needed it yet. The ProPulse 200/220MTS/300 have built in synergic programs for SilBr wire, including pulse to help limit heat input. Let's see what project I can use this on....

What metal thickness and material type are those settings for? Thanks.

Those synergic programs are for MIG brazing mild steel, but they can be tweaked on both WFS and voltage of course.

Here in these charts "material" is filler, not base metal.

Could that wire be used to braze cast iron?

Not sure, but I think that's Aluminum Bronze you're thinking of. Actually that is for TIG brazing of cast iron.

According to Washington Alloys, silicon bronze can be used for cast iron.
