    Advice needed new pipewelder

I finished pipe welding school about 7 months ago and got a plant job being a pipe welder in maintenance. I like my job but got offered another job working in a fab shop. I eventually want to work on the road but know you really have to be a jam up welder to do that. What should I do? I feel like I could get a lot better welding at a fab shop just welding allday? What do yall think?

Only way to get good at welding pipe, is weld pipe all day every day! Eventually you will get where you can do it in your sleep.

I’ve worked the road and fab shops for years, if you can make more money in the fab shop and get more proficient at pipe I’d go that route. Then work the road.

Thinking I might go to the fab shop about the same money but I can become a better welder I believe. Also the plant job I have I work very little OT. It looks like I could get OT at the fab shop from time to time. Thanks for the advice
