    Fronius welder

Donít know much about this welder
itís a Fronius TPS 400i pulse
donít think my boss knows anything about it
either, using 100 percent argon .045 wire
I need to play with the settings, Iím the one using it what gas should be set at itís at 50 psi, 2 step would like to play with the settings Iím welding 1/8 brackets to around 1/16 plates, spot weld are fine but not so much on actual welding parts together, my cheep one at home welds much better

Got any idea what kind of material you're trying to weld?

Pure argon probably isn't the best for mild steel either. Real pointed heat and not much wet out at all. A mix like C25 would be better.

70S6 in 030 and C25 gas at 15 lb(20 if the area is a little breezy and you're rolling.
Engineers are generally idiots. It's in their blood.
Call the tech boys at Fronius. Tell'em thats what the dropout recommends(personally I'd run straight CO2 but the engineer obviously has money to burn).

I know he said argon, but if you look at the display parameters on the machine it's showing 100% CO2, also showing material thickness @ .035.

Iíll check the gas tomorrow, unless he has the settings wrong, he said that was the gas he was running I use 75/25 in mine, but he may be running 100 percent CO2

Probably a manual on line? Or YouTube.?

" the robots don't have that much trouble, I'm fixing what they blow though"? What are the robot settings and gas and sure?

    Re: Fronius welder

No-one should use pure argon for steel MIG. .045 wire is a bit big for the size of work as well, you'd be better with .035 with either C15-25 or a "light" mixture of 5% CO2, 2% O2, balance Ar.

The wire size is maybe ok if you're in pulse spray, but again, you'd be better off with a different gas, especially as the program is written for CO2, not Argon. Unless you're getting confused?

Pics of welds and what problems you're having?

    Re: Fronius welder

Iíll get pictures up today confused huh! Thatís an understatement Iíve read up on this machine itís bad *** for around 7 grand it should be, this thing should be able make sandwiches the gas Iíll definitely check on
Mine biggest wire on my welder it does is 035 flux so far mine is sweet I use mostly 030 on mine, my welds on the 400i isnít to bad till the end, Iíll try to go faster they donít want me messing with the settings but I think I might depending on the outcome today, the robot stays on one area to long getting hot causing the burn through, thatís my thoughts but Iím not the engineer,
I been out of welding for a few years so I canít ditch anyone Iíve had two wrist surgeryís a color bone/ shoulder surgery all on my dominant (left) side so Iím trying.

    Re: Fronius welder

looks a bit too hot, should be able to turn the trim down (if on pulse) or the voltage a bit to compensate. The craters at the end are a function of this very hot and fast spray, but I'm sure a machine of that calibre has a crater fill function. It just needs a bit more tail-out.

IS it straight CV spray, or is it pulse?

The gas choice might have an effect on the finished look of the bead also...

100% argon on mild steel is wrong. Show him this thread and he can read himself that he is wrong. Typical engineer.

Also the 100% argon would explain burn-through with the robot. Be careful you don't talk your way out of a job
