    No oil cooler on the 22r. Definitely needs a thermostat if you're blocking the radiator on a gasser (and maybe a radiator cap). Pull a bit of that "mud" out of the radiator and put it in a bowl of water, you'll see if engine oil floats and separates in it.

    Flush that thing out a few times with tap water (even if you're still planning on a headgasket) and see if it still instantly turns to creamer.

    LOL... I'm afraid John might be right on this one. If you are changing the head gasket anyway, take the head to a machine shop and get it magnafluxed. The truck's head...

    Yep... I've had a couple of 4 cyl heads crack. Get it checked.
