I have been MIG welding off and on for a year building home and shop projects. I have a tractor bracket repair coming up and wanted to use stick 7018, likely a vertical weld, so some practice is in order. After about 12-15 rods I managed to produce the beads in the attached photo. They look a lot better than my previous ones, but not sure if I’m on the right track.
Using a Hobart Multi process 200, 3/32 7018 at 85 amps on 1/4 plate. The weld on the top was flat horizontal, and the weld on the bottom was vertical uphill, same amps, same rod.
Advice is appreciated,
