Bed frame composition and therefore weld-ability is all over the place. I made a frame for a Rotary Phase Converter out of a bed frame and it welded very nice. Another time, I used a different frame and it wouldn't weld very nice at all. I guess it depends on the neighborhood where you find the discarded bed frame.
