Here is a boat project I am working on. 3/8 mild steel with severe corrosion damage. Cutting out and replacing this part is a very difficult job as it is welded deep inside the boat and access very bad.
I am considering some weld passes to build up the corroded areas, then grinding flush. Best process to use? Would ER309L be a possible choice here? I also have 309L TIG rods.
The two holes have stainless bushings welded in, type 304 stainless TIG welded with 309 filler. There is a lot of load on this plate.
