Little something I have been working on in my spare time at work.

Got more pics of the front for some reason.

That is just one of those 2,000lb hitch winches. Its a Samurai, they dont weigh much and a winch is mainly for myself. Plus I made it to be removable to mount it to the rear bumper also. Should be fine if I use a snatch block.

Back view of front bumper

Front bumper in natural Samurai state (upside down :D)

And all primed up.

The shackles are located so they are in direct line with where it mounts to the frame. The mounting plate is 1/4" plate welded to the 1/8" bumper and 9/16" bolts through to another 1/4" plate on the backside where the frame mount is. Ohio is a dumbass 2 plate state, so the front plate is on a removeable bracket in the front receiver.

Only one of the back bumper.

The lights are stop/turn/tail and there is going to be a set of round fog lamps recessed in between the D rings and the receiver as backup lights. I have the lights just need to pick up some 4" exhaust pipe to make buckets out of. Rear license plate gets relocated to the tailgate. The D rings are set up like the front. 1/4" plate welded to the 1/8" bumper, 9/16" bolts to the frame mount on the backside. And I should probably add a place to hook a set of safety chains, even though it will probably never pull a trailer. It has a whopping 60hp you know. ;)

Thanks for looking.

That's awesome. Can't wait to see the photos of it installed. :)
Me either. :D I have to finish the head gasket repair first so I can get it over to the shop and install them.

Thanks for the comments guys.

I like the table your working off of as much if not more than the bumpers. I've been looking and it appears its 3 inch channel with about an inch to an inch and a half or so between each.

I'm not so sure that winch is going to last. You've got to remember they are rated for rolling resistance on level smooth ground. Not pulling a vehicle out of a hole where the mud is sucking on it and the roots and rocks are preventing tires from rolling smoothly. Thats why its recommended to go with a minimum of 3x the weight of the vehicle for the rated pulling force of the winch.

I would need a 22,000 lb winch for the DMax!

I didn't come up with the rule. just conveying what I was told. You'd probably be ok with just 2x the weight of the vehicle if you've got the right block and tackle set up. but in order to use those you need 2x-3x or more of the length of the pull for you line. which becomes just as spendy.

Whats your plan for installing the front? They've got that goofy frame with a tube running between it. I've been brain storming for the boys sammi but haven't came up with a good plan yet
The tentative plan is a 1/4 plate on each side of the frame. I can get one through bolt in the top. The bottom I will probably drill the frame and weld a 1/2" nut in.

The back I am going have to make my own mounting tabs and weld to the frame as far as I can tell.

Thanks. :) Here is another pic of it before I added the cutting table to the end.

I built it from an old cart I had made when we was rebuilding Humvees. The top is 1/4"x 4" C channel spaced 1 1/2" apart. I cant remember the exact dimensions but its about 45" x 72" with the cutting area. Makes using bessy style clamps real easy but I am constantly picking tools up from under it.

I have $30 in the winch ;) I figure if (when) it does fail I can always cut and widen the top for a bigger mounting plate.

You'll also need an immovable object (or something darn heavy) to attach one of the blocks to, if you want to use B&T ... not always practical.

um... you're winching on something. so that needs to be solid. Period. Than you just run it back to the rig/ORV for your second attachment point. You can go between the two points as many times as you have pulleysand attachement points for. so long as you don't tangle the line. No need for a third item to attach too. Just the anchor point, which you needed to winch on in the first place, and the vehicle.

When you get it mounted shoot me some pics of it if you would please?

Thanks
Sammy
Sure thing. They will be posted up on here too.

Awesome bumpers.

Prolly more heavy duty than the truck they're going on!
Without a doubt. :D I figured I could build them a bit beefy due to all the "weight reduction" holes in the body.

Looks good you are ready for "Wellsville"
That anything thing like powerline park?

Larp I'm not sure (I have never been)? I know a few guys that thrash and get trashed with there 4x4. They come back with broken parts and hangovers!
here is a link plus there are a bunch of utube clips:

Looks like about the same deal.

http://www.powerlinepark.com/

I know a few people that go there. I sometimes get the privilege of fixing the broken crap afterwards.

Probably not. I mainly got it for fishing and a few of the local trails. I dont have a truck and trailer to haul it anywhere. And its too damn scary to drive on open highway for a very long time.:p
