Ive used a cone type balancer for over 50 years now.It will check grinding wheels for balance.Not talking about out of round.Out of balance wheels run rough.It would be hard to fix a knife that was way out as you have to grind and recheck several times.Cone balancer is fast and costs little.Mine is die cast, new ones come in plastic.

Gloves and safety glasses are needed when grinding knives.You can get cut putting knives back on the mower.
