My main tractor I bough last winter was leaking oil and when I got under it to find the leak I found there is a crack abut 6in long on the underside of the transmission near where the axle bolts on. It had JB weld on it and I knocked it off and it looks like someone welded stainless over it in a huge area but it cracked right through. Any ideas how to fix this? I need the tractor and it leaks to much to let it go another year. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Also, that is a very collectable tractor. Depending on where you are I would be interested in it if you decide to sell it.

Right now I need it, once I get my white up and running I may decide to sell it. I would like to restore it and keep it but don't have the storage space for that.

This is a commercial system for that. You can do it with small pipe plugs too.

Ive see that in a lot of farm magazines over the years. Ive never personally seen it don't but it must work.

I like the locknstitch but that looks time consuming. I think what I may do is look into the napa gas tank sealer and patch it up for now. Once I get into mid summer the tractor will probably just sit so that will be a good time to drain the oil and try a more permanent fix.

The only thing that worries me about the locknstitch is finding the original crack under the weld. I would probably have to try and grind it down to the cast and use a dye to find the crack.

I'm sure that locknstich is going to be pricey too.
