I rent them from my local Sunbelt rental. I moved a couple of 75 hp air compressors with them. The plant was under construction and the had to have air. We didnt have anything but a 4 wheel drive tractor and trucks. We couldn't use a forklift to off load them. So a pallet jack and a tractor we moved them.

On these big packing nuts that you can't get a normal multiplier on I use a portapower. Build a a wrench (we had to anyway) make the reaction arm that gives me 1ft. from the center of the nut (easy math). Place the hydraulic cylinder at the end of the arm. Start pumping.
My 12 ton hollow ram used to get a lot of work. Simple shop math. 2.4 lbs per PSI. 2083 psi gives me 5000 ftlbs.

I worked in a metal stamping shop. We had small mechanical presses 500 tons and under at this plant. They use huge air cylinders as counterbalance to help the motor bring the ram back to top. These air cylinders have 12" to 36" pistons. 1 piston nut backed off of a 18" cylinder. The little 1/2 plates that was used for the top plate was only held on by 12 3/8" bolts. The piston hit the roof 20'+ up and landed feet from the operator. It would have killed her.
I think that was her last say there.
