I'm looking at 2 pre-owned plasma cutters, that are still fairly new, in decent condition. Either one will do what I want, which is only home-shop fabricate & repair work on mild steel; 1/8" up to 3/8, with the occasional cuts of half inch. I know the Miller has a bit higher cut capacity, and it is the higher priced machine of these 2.
The 625X is about 2 years old, and the Cutmaster 42 is a year old. There is a $300 difference in the cost of these cutters. So the question is should I pony up the extra, and buy the Miller (I also own a Millermatic 180 MIG), or save the $300 for something else, and gett he 42?
Are they both very reliable machines? Please don't tell me to get the Hypertherm. I know it is the best, and yes, I really would like to have one, but my sanity is being questioned for even spending half that, on one of these used machines.
Comments welcome.
