Re: Northeastern Illinois "Weldorama" Sunday, 9/26/2016

Why do you good people live on the wrong side of the country?
Both of you are on the wrong side of the country. We need to meet in the middle. Somewhere in the middle of Montana.

So that's where the keys went..:laugh:
...zap!
Hey, I thought you had them!!!
Keys on a helicopter? Nope.
Red arrow indicates start button on the Jet Ranger.

Both Steves were unaware, of course, since they normally ride in the back, in the really big coach seats.

Equilibrium,
7A749 asked me to pick up the bottle for him. I'll see that he gets it.
:nono:

The Weldoramas always sound like a great learning opportunity for us amateurs. Especially the tig clinics. Tips, tricks, and watching how a true professional does it. Probably nerve wracking to have someone looking over your shoulder, but an effective way to get rid of some bad habits.
Someday my stars will align.

Have fun!

Sounds like a great event with all the stars aligned for weather, variety of equipment, and turnout.
Only dark cloud on the horizon was DSW's absence. :(

... That SA200 that DanD78 brought along was calling to me to try it but I didn't quite know if I was up to it or not.
:confused::confused::confused:
I'd have been FIRST in line to try it. Burning metal with an SA200 is high on my bucket list, but don't know anyone locally who has one. Probably a slight exaggeration, but they seem to make anyone look like a pro. Any rod, any position, anytime. My perception, probably from watching "Fieldres" work his pipe magic on YT. There's no substitute for practice, but at some point the equipment becomes a limiting factor. I "made do" with a buzzbox for 2 decades, worked OK & the welds were usually structurally sound, but never good looking. The Idealarc was big step up, followed by an XMT350. The higher tech machine seems to compensate for operator error. And the next step is the larger-than-life SA200. Someday. I'd almost buy one off CL just to try it, but explaining it to my wife would be a challenge. :nono: Welding's still a hobby. :blush2:

Glad to hear the event was a success. Demo'ing other machines would be fun.
Sounds like a home run on the food and socializing.
