Post up where you purchase your raw materials (sheets, tubing and bar stock) from and how much it costs per foot, pound or however it's priced. I'd like to see if there is any variance from state to state or country to country. MSN does this with gas prices so I'm curious how it's similar, if at all, with steel prices.

I bought a drop piece of 3/8 thick steel slightly under 3X4 ( it was 34.5 by 49 inches?) and it cost me 93 dollars. The place I buy from is aptly named Discount steel which is the cheapest around here (Minneapolis). They would have charged a bit more for a shear cut ($30.) so....

I just placed an order for some steel From Alro steel.Im in Orlando Fl.

3"x1-3/8" c channle Was $31.89 For a 20ft Length
2"x2"x1/8" angle was 25.89 For a 20ft Length
96"x10"x1/4" Flat c roll steel for $135.93

I just checked on a 4x8 Sheet of 12 gauge at my local mackine/weld shop to build a strap/chain box for a buddies car trailor. That guy wanted 189.00! Ofcourse he also charged me a buck a piece for 4 3/32 70 tig wire, so I sould'nt be suprised. I'm in north western IL.

4x8 x1/2 plate is $575.00 here! If I drive 2 hours its $505.00!
:( I live in the Rockies (Colorado)

LOL:D The same way I got a 1100lb welder out! Very Carefully!
You can do wonders with a cherry picker!

Good lord, sounds like that place is price gouging like a fiend!

I just paid $7.54 PER ft. for 1.75x.120 tube, 4130.X60FT.!!!! Hope this stuff does the job, 'cause 2" is unbelievably $$$$$$.455 is brutal for 60 ft. But I need 304 in 1.25x.188.... the best quote was 15.60 PER FT. Any better ideas?? This was from Tube Supplies in So. Cal. I'd like to see any kind of drop on that price, if possible. Without buying 400 ft. of it....

Here on Mexico I paid 30 bucks for a 2 meter long 1" 9840 steel bar, it was tempered and heat treated.
