Yesterday as a bit of a joke I showed my kids a little trick of putting a stick electrode in the end of the Tig torch with the 1/8" collet set, no cup and the gas turned off.
To their amazement, it worked, though not well(straight polarity).
Today I had more time, do I swapped leads and lit up again. At 200 peak amps, 60% peak and 30% background, it ran like a dream. I was able to push it straight uphill with NO sagging at all. I played the pedal a little to keep the amperage in check, but WOW was it cool!

Tomorrow I think I'm going to look at my other machines to see if they will pulse too. I know it takes the simplicity out of good old stick welding, but I could see it working in the structural field
